South Norfolk Council is again giving youngsters the chance to learn how to play squash for free.

The Council has teamed up with Barnham Broom Hotel to teach schoolchildren in year 9 and above the basics of squash.

Six-week courses will run from 21 January and are the latest in a series of free or subsidised courses run by the Council with local sports clubs in South Norfolk.

Sessions will be led by Barnham Broom’s Craig Aldred, who is an England Squash Level 4 qualified coach - the highest qualification you can get.

South Norfolk Council’s Deputy Leader Councillor Martin Wilby said:

"With the Olympics fast approaching, this is a great opportunity for young people to try something new and get fit and healthy.

"These free courses could be the inspiration they need to get active and stay active."

This project is part of a series of free or subsidised courses funded through the Sportivate programme, run locally by Active Norfolk.

Sportivate forms part of the Government 's drive to increase the health and fitness of youngsters and leave a lasting legacy to the 2012 Olympic Games.

Scores of local children have already benefitted from Sportivate, which has included archery and courses run at the Norfolk Snowsports Club in Trowse.
