Annual floods road show

Released on 03 October 2006

South Norfolk Council is holding its annual road show for residents offering advice and information on preparing for floods.

It takes place on Thursday 12 October at:

- 10am to 12 noon, at the Wherry Inn, The Street, Geldeston,

and;

- 1pm to 3pm at the Crossways Service Centre, Yarmouth Road, Ellingham.

South Norfolk Council District Emergency Manager Jim Bagley said:

“Our road show is to inform local residents of Flood Risk Zones in their area, demonstrate flood defence products, allow them to enrol with the Environment Agency's Flood Warning Scheme and receive general advice on what to do before, during and after a flooding event.

“Visitors will also have the opportunity to report any drainage problems, talk to our Emergency Planning team, Environment Agency Flood Warning staff and flood defence equipment suppliers.

“It's better to be informed and prepared before the event to lessen the effects of flooding rather than to be faced with heartbreak, a massive clear-up effort and large insurance claims afterwards.”
