Summer of fun in the countryside

Countryside Rangers at a Norfolk council are planning a summer of fun events.

From Saturday 17 June until the end of August, families, and others will be invited to join in everything from pond dipping and 'bootiful bubbles' to turning your garden into a wildlife haven.

Wildflower Walk Ranger Jonathon Cook will be leading this walk to seek out the beautiful and uncommon fen flowers and plants on this delightful wetland. Please bring suitable footware.

VENUE: Roydon Fen DATE: Saturday 17 June TIME: 2pm – 4pm AGE: Any COST: Free

Wildflower Gardening Have you ever wanted to attract hedgehogs to your garden or wondered what to give the birds in your window box. Come along to South Norfolk House in Long Stratton and learn what you can do to turn your patch into a wildlife haven.

Refreshments will be provided but please bring a pack lunch.

VENUE: South Norfolk House DATE: Saturday 8 July TIME: 10am to 3pm AGE: Any COST: Free All children must be accompanied by an adult. As this is a popular event, booking is advisable.

Winnie the Pooh Activity Hunt for rabbit friends and relations (minibeast hunt). Tracks/Trails Teddy Bears’ picnic, Owl Boxes and Masks. Parking and transport facilities from Saxlingham Village Hall.

Bat Activity Join local Bat experts for an informative talk on the life of Bats then a walk to try and find these secretive creatures of the night.

Pond Dipping and Mini Beast Hunt Led by South Norfolk Council Countryside Rangers in partnership with Colney Burial Park

Venue: Colney Wood Date: Tuesday 15 August Time: 10am – 12noon and 2pm - 4pm Age: Aged 5 and above for both sessions Cost: £3 per child, per session

Wellington boots essential. Price includes a snack and a drink

Bootiful Bubbles A fun activity involving bubbles, bubble art and putting kids inside bubbles, this could be a messy afternoon so wear old clothes.

VENUE: Swardeston Common DATE: Wednesday 16 August TIME: 2pm to 4pm COST: £2 AGE: Any

All children aged 6 and under must be accompanied by an adult. The accompanying adults will be free of charge.

Build a Boat South Norfolk Council are running this event With the Upper Waveney Valley Project and Thornham Walks. Come and make mini boats out of natural materials, then float them on the river.

Venue: Scole Picnic Site Date: Thursday 17 August Time: 2pm to 4pm Cost: £2.50 per person All children must be accompanied by an adult. The accompanying adults will be free of charge.
