Summary

Small to medium sized companies play an important role in the Economic Development of our district. Much of the assistance we offer aims to help this sector expand and create more jobs.

We could help you or your company with a low interest loan, professional advice and assistance or new premises. We are currently preparing a guide to our services which you will be able to download from this page soon (May - June 2007).

This site gives information for people who are considering starting up a business, as well as those who are already trading e.g. how to find and manage money for a business, international trade and taxes, returns & payrolls.

Department of Trade and Industry
This website provides information to help people and companies become more productive by promoting enterprise, innovation and creativity. It includes information on the Small Firms Loan Guarantee Scheme.

Learning and Skills Council
The Learning and Skills Council are responsible for planning and funding vocational education and training for young people and adults.

Norfolk Rural Community Council
The Community Chest Fund has been set up to help projects which improve the environment or encourage sustainable tourism. Voluntary or community groups in the Broads & Rivers area can apply for grants of up to £5,000. Projects should draw on the distinctiveness of the Broads and Rivers area, benefit local wildlife, landscape, cultural heritage and the environment, and provide information and events that allow visitors and residents to better enjoy the area.

Norfolk & Waveney Enterprise Services (NWES)
The NWES is a registered enterprise agency working in partnership with both the public and private sector to provide business support. It provides a variety of information including business training, information for start ups and the Advance Loan Scheme.

Start up Guide
This is the UK's largest inline resource for anyone starting or running a small business. It contains over 10, 000 pages of independent information and advice including how to choose your business plan, financing your business and legal issues.

Trading Standards, Norfolk County Council
Trading Standards provides an advisory service to businesses which provides support and information so that they can comply with trading standards and consumer protection law.
