Business rates (or National Non-Domestic Rates - NNDR) are paid as a contribution by businesses towards local services such as road maintenance and emergency services. All the money collected from business rates is sent to the Government.

The independent Valuation Office Agency (VOA) has issued a fact sheet warning businesses about organisations offering to cut rate bills but end up charging more in fees.
