LDF: Gypsy and Traveller Development Plan (DPD)

Summary

Gypsy and Traveller Site

The Gypsy and Traveller Development Plan Document (DPD) is our plan to provide sites for Gypsies and Travellers in South Norfolk. As a result of comments from the public, a previous consultation during 2008 was withdrawn. We revised the criteria for selecting sites and used them to assess potential sites, including new sites that had been suggested, we published the results for consultation in March and April 2009.

Having considered the responses to the consultation the Council resolved to proceed with the DPD with allocated sites at Earsham and Wymondham. We published a pre-submission version of the DPD and invited comments on the soundness of the document in September and October 2009.

Having assessed all the representations received, the Council is satisfied that the document is sound and has now submitted the documents to the Planning Inspectorate for independent scrutiny (Examination in Public). It is anticipated the Examination in Public will be held in Spring 2010. If you have indicated your intention to appear at the Examination you will be contacted.

If you have any other queries regarding the process leading to the Examination you should contact the Programme Officer, Julie Burgess on 01508 533846 or via email at jburgess@s-norfolk.gov.uk.
