Save our pubs
Summary
Rural publicans have really struggled in recent times and many pubs have been forced to close. In response, we set up a Rural Pubs Scrutiny Task Group, which has been welcomed locally and nationally. So far we have held very successful summit meetings with publicans to discuss their concerns and conducted an equally successful survey.
The Task Group sent a letter to John Grogan MP, the chairman of the All Parliamentary Beer Group, asking them to consider a six point pub rescue plan, which amongst other improvements for landlords, asks for duty to be cut on beer and changes in rate relief. Download the the full letter and reports below.
Most recently Councillor Keith Weeks met with the All Party Parliamentary Beer Group of MPs to present the Council's case for saving rural pubs.
